NHL salary cap to be between $84-$88.2 million next season

The NHL is projecting an increase for its salary cap next season.

NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly announced Wednesday at the NHL GM Meetings that the salary cap would be between $84 – $88.2 million for the 2020-21 season.

For the current season, teams are operating under a cap of $81.5 million.

The league’s salary cap, which is calculated on a percentage of hockey-related league revenue from the previous season, goes into effect once the NHL’s free agency period opens on July 1.
