Noah Dobson’s wound just got a little more salt put into it.
Dobson was the Canadian defenceman whose stick exploded in overtime against Finland at the world juniors, leading to an odd-man rush the other way.
The Finns converted, eliminating the defending champions from the tournament on home ice.
But what if Dobson’s stick had held together? What if Dobson was using… a PAMA PHX Carbon?
Finnish stick company Pama just couldn’t help but send a slight jab at the Islanders first-round pick, while also sending a free sample of their top product.
“We at PAMA Hockey feel sorry that your equipment gave up on you at the worst possible moment,” reads Pama’s letter to Dobson. “We know how polite the Canadians are, so we want to give you this Finnish hockey stick, PAMA PHX Carbon as a gift for a great hockey game. We hope the best for your upcoming career!”
Dobson might never actually use his new gift, but at least Pama, whose website states that their stick (emphasis added) “is durable, fatigue-resistant, ecological and, first and foremost, great to play with” is getting their name out.
Their Twitter account has 245 followers (and growing) as of this writing.
The Finns play Switzerland at 8 p.m. ET on Friday for a spot in the gold-medal game.
