T.J. Brodie, who collapsed and experienced an on-ice episode during the Calgary Flames‘ practice on Thursday, has been discharged from the hospital and is recovering at home, the team announced.
In their release, the team described Brodie as “doing well in recovery” at home with his family.
Earlier today, the Flames’ practice was halted and Brodie was taken to a hospital for evaluation after he fell to the ice and was convulsing during a skate.
The defenceman was taken off the ice on a stretcher and underwent tests at a local hospital before his eventual discharge this evening.
While Brodie was in the hospital, captain Mark Giordano and a group of Flames players visited him.
“We’re really close friends, so it was really tough to see him like that,” Giordano said. “It was probably the scariest moment for me in my career. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a guy down in that state.”
According to the Flames, a further update will be provided by General Manager Brad Treliving at 9:45 a.m. on Friday, November 15th at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
